Come Fairies, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind, and dance upon the mountains like a flame!
~W.B. Yeats

Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,

The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet.

But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams...

Busy me!

Its so true there just aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do! (Especially sewing things) And sometimes I will lay in my bed as I am coming awake, thinking about what I will do this day and I make all these plans for SUCH productivity then I sit down here at my computer and sip my coffee and one thing leads to another and before I know it, I'm out of time! (And I've not accomplished much, either...but I HAVE seen all the new things I'd just love to stitch!!! lol)

I just found out yesterday that one of my dear friends reads my blog. Actually, let me rephrase... CHECKS my blog regularily to see what I've added. It came to mind that I do not update it near often enough.

I've got this thing in my head that whenever I post, that I MUST put a new picture. And pictures take effort, (to TAKE the picture and more harder: to DO something big enough to take a picture of!) :)

I love pictures. Pictures say a lot. So today I will take a picture. But not post it right now. Because... I haven't taken it yet. And just now I will make this into a "pictureless post."

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend

Crossed Wing

Happy New Year!!!!

This past summer I came across a lovely design. A HUGE design with flowers and hummingbirds and butterflies. It was quite lovely. AND THEN... I saw someone's blog that was stitching it on a hand dyed fabric. And that hand dyed fabric was actually done FOR this design, by the actual designer of this lovely flower garden. http://www.crossedwing.com/

Quickly I got on the phone and called her to see if she was still doing that since this was a few years old and YES! She ordered fabric for me (a very large piece of 32 ct. linen... somewhere in the ball park of 28x50"-- did I mention it was huge?) I dont even remeber the finished size, maybe its 20x36?

Today I will show you my fabric and the design. Today or sometime this week I'll take it off the frame and snap some smaller shots and post them.

The Goatie Gift

OK! OK! ENOUGH!!

I just couldn't wait (but I did) to make this post and you show you this little needlebook that I made for a friend of mine, Leslie.

I knew her birthday was coming up and I wanted to make her something "goatie related" since she has 3 goats and is now in the process of knitting something from the fur of one of them. Fur that SHE SPUN! On her SPINNING WHEEL! Anyway, on a hunt I was to find the perfect design.

But alas...no cross stitch designs anywhere (that I could find). I did come across a 'lil bit of clip art of a super cute little goat. So I asked my girlfriend, Deb (Ohhhhhh Deb...you simply MUST check out her designs-I love them! http://www.etsy.com/shop/TemptingTangles?section_id=7204412 ) I am getting off track. Anyway, I asked Deb if she would take that bit of clip art and make it into something I could stitch. I am just NOT that clever...

So she did! YAY Deb!

Then, I took some pictures of Leslie's goat, Davis. And I switched all the colors around in the chart so my stitching would come out looking like Davis. I added some flowers under his feet and one in his mouth because, after all, WHAT goat could possibly resist putting a FLOWER in his mouth?!

I forgot to take a picture of the back. I stitched a pretty rose there in honor of Leslie's farm, Hedgerose Farm. (She's a great writer, too if you want to peek at her site... http://HedgeroseFarm.wordpress.com/ )
Happy Birthday Leslie!!

Medieval Town, center part

I've finished Chatelaine's Medieval Town. (FINALLY! its been years....)

Well, actually... I've finished all the stitching and only SOME of the beads.

I kinda got too excited for my newest project and couldn't contain myself, so back it went into the box. /gasp!

(of course the colors look a bit washed out compared to real life--oh well...)
